Model’s guide to skincare: The 5-Step Secret

How do models keep their skin looking so fantastic? After long-haul flights and running around town for castings, they seem to maintain a remarkable complexion. Sure, this may have to do with genetics and touch-ups, but there still are many tips and tricks they use to keep their blemishes at bay. There’s a plethora of skin ‘secrets.’ I have learned including vital tips from plenty of makeup artists. In this article, I will share some of these pieces of skincare advice. As skincare can be expensive, here is my take on the essential—and affordable—things you need to know.

  1. Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid’s primary benefits include deep skin hydration, reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improved skin elasticity. It can also help with wound healing, joint lubrication, and relieving symptoms of dry eyes. This occurs because hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant, meaning it draws and holds moisture in the skin and other tissues.  Helping models keep radiant skin.

2. Dry brushing

Gently brush your skin in circular motions before showering to boost blood flow, improve texture, and promote a healthier appearance,

3.Double cleansing

Use an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup and impurities, followed by a water-based cleanser for a deep cleanse.

Double cleansing provides several benefits, including thorough removal of makeup and sunscreen, unclogging pores to reduce acne and blackheads, and improving the absorption of subsequent skincare products. This two-step process, typically using an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based one, effectively cleans both oil and water-based impurities, which can lead to a more radiant and clearer complexion.

4. “4-2-4” method

The 4-2-4 method is a 10-minute cleansing routine that involves a 4-minute oil cleanse, a 2-minute water-based cleanser massage, and a 4-minute rinse with water. This technique, inspired by Korean and Japanese skincare, aims to provide a deep, thorough clean by allowing time for the products to work on the skin’s impurities and improve circulation. The method is typically done in the evening to prepare the skin for other skincare products.

5. “Toner Method”

The 7 layer toner method, also known as the 7-Skin Method, is a Korean skincare trick  that involves applying a hydrating toner or essence up to seven times to deeply moisturize the skin. It involves patting a small amount of the product into the skin and allowing each layer to absorb before applying the next, with the goal of achieving a plump and hydrated complexion. This method is suitable for all skin types and is typically performed after cleansing and before applying other products like serums and moisturizers.
